Primary Rhinoplasty

Primary rhinoplasty refers to a rhinoplasty procedure performed on somebody who has nevr had a rhinoplasty before. The term is used primarily to distinguish techniques that are designed to be used in primary procedures as opposed to revision procedures. Once the nasal tissues have been operated on they heal with scar tissue. This eliminates the natural surgical planes and a different technique is needed to open up the nose.

Revision rhinoplasty is frequently a much more challenging procedure than primary rhinoplasty and different techniques may be needed in order to deal with some of the problems encountered during the surgery.

If this is your primary rhinoplasty ensure that you take time to plan your surgery and research your surgeon thoroughly. The best results are usually obtained from the primary procedure as the healing is the most predictable.
